Sex Ed 101
Human beings have corresponding sexual organs. It's primary function is to procreate on a biological scientific level. Human beings being social creatures do more then just mate and abandon their offspring. We all bond and form relationships through our biological kinship as children with our parents. It's how we are able to survive beyond birth.
Our first social interaction is with our mother, this is something highly encouraged in modern day society. Babies born for instance are placed on the mother's chest, babies are to be with mother's along their bedside, and moms whenever possible are encourage and supported to breastfeed.
We also know through science, women don't just self-produce. Human life is created with an egg released at the time of ovulation in a woman's body, if sperm is present from the conjugal act (ejaculation of millions of sperm from a man's penis inside a woman's vagina) conception may occur and human life is created. Hopefully for the nest 38 weeks of gestation a human being will be present in a woman's uterus. Again hopefully a woman may have natural childbirth and have a new born baby.
Man + Woman (Heterosexual Sex) = Baby
My six year old is just figuring that one out!
Not all sex is equal. Just saying.... I'm not a hateful bigot, but I have to say that's a really uninformed poster.
There are plenty of posts here on Opine for anyone who has any more questions on this unique way every human being is created in which I can link marriage to healthy fathers for a mother's offspring. It does sound quite logical considering a woman needed his sperm to create a baby.

It took me a while to figure out that this photo was from a NOM-organized rally.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the "one big lie" sign is supposed to mean. It's certainly not the best of the counter-protest signs.
Peter, I assume the sign is stating that sex in general has little to do with procreating. While contraception, sterilization, and abortion are accepted as apart of our society, the severing of heterosexual sexual relations making babies has more with the redefining of marriage then Goodridge ever did in 2004.
ReplyDeleteLiving in Massachusetts all of my life and reflecting on numerous things, it makes sense why the Massachusetts court came to the conclusion of redefining marriage to include same-sex couples. I believe there are long term consequences though, that has nothing to do what a person thinks of gay people though.
Gay marriage just happens to be an interesting outcome out of it all.
I'm working on a post that can cite resources on these observations.
Renee, I don't think the sign is intended to state that "sex in general has little to do with procreating." I'm not sure what the intent is, but that doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteFar more clear is this sign displayed by a NOM supporter: http://www.bilerico.com/2010/07/nom_bus_rolls_into_indianapolis.php
The sign is horrible in the link. You don't know who will show up at a rally. It's pretty clear the one man + one woman = big lie is a hand made sign also.
ReplyDeleteSeda, perhaps the anti-NOM sign was not intentionally meant to say that sex has little to do with procreation, but if not that is the unintentional implication of it.
ReplyDeleteI totally condemn the two nooses sign that was brought into the NOM rally, without their approval.
But if you mean to compare the two signs, I don't think Renee's point in posting the one was to use it as an example of the extreme of incivility, but as an example of a ludicrous statement that flies in the face of biological truth.
I think the game of trying to argue which side has the worst and most uncivil signs is really irrelevant to the debate. Kooks can be found to represent the extreme of any position. Did John Brown's massacre of pro-slavery settlers in Kansas somehow prove that the pro-slavery side was in the right?
(By the way, I have also responded to a question you asked of me in June, on another thread).
There is the Providence NOM video in which counter protesters storm the podium and even (though joking) suggest of kidnapping a baby at the rally.
ReplyDeleteI made the point to search a non-NOM video of the Providence Rally from a local news affiliate. While it did show the podium rush... the affiliate took the time to seek out a gay marriage protester (after the rally, I assume without the looneys) to calmly state her point on marriage.
By the way, Seda's link is misleading. NOM has put out a message about that sign, setting the record straight.
ReplyDeleteSeda, there was a time I would have been shocked to see you accomplice to such a campaign. It is even more sad to me that I've come to expect that you would run with any such opportunity you would get.
