Haiti: Our Condolences, Sympathies, and Support

Opine is dedicated to humanitarian well-being. Therefore, we take a moment to note the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Haiti. Please help those affected by this disaster. We recommend the following charities:

  • Catholic Relief Services - When it comes to volunteers on the ground in Haiti, this charity cannot be beat. An excellent track record of disaster relief around the world.
  • LDS Humanitarian Emergency Relief Fund - Disaster preparedness is practically a tenet of LDS faith. Also have a great volunteer organization already in place in Haiti. Great expertise and a flawless track record in past disasters small and large around the world.
  • Haitian Health Foundation - If you're looking for a charity that is focused just on Haiti, this is an outstanding choice. Good network already in place, ridiculously low administrative expenses, and they'll be helping in Haiti long after most of the other relief efforts are over.

For other charitable giving ideas, Charity Navigator has compiled a list of reputable charities providing aid in Haiti. Sadly, we know from past experience that whenever there is a disaster there will be crooks trying to take advantage of it. If you want to help, please, please make sure the help you provide actually gets to the Haitian people.
