Update on Rick Warren's remarks

Watch the video and read the transcript of Larry King's interview with Rick Warren, here.

  1. He says that he did not back the proposition 8 but then says he thinks that the marriage definition should remain as one man and one woman.

If you think that marriage is between one man and one woman then you also support proposition 8 which wanted to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

  2. Rev. Warren seems to be just trying to align himself with his political benefactor, President Obama. President Obama similarly supports the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman but opposes any effort to support that.

  3. Interesting how these guys are happy living with such a contradiction in their lives.

NOW he says: "I don't know how you take one video newsletter to your own church and turn that into, all of a sudden I'm the poster boy for anti-gay marriage."

Rick, you do that by allowing the Southern Baptist Convention to announce it in their newsletter and by letting the Prop 8 people use the video!

BTW: I realize that people think he has done so much good for Africa and AIDS, etc. But his largesse is disingenuous: the two nations he has named "Purpose Driven", Uganda and Rwanda, have no plans of decriminalizing homosexuality (Rwanda's penalty is life imprisonment!)and Warren focuses ONLY on programs that do NOT distribute condoms, do not have needle exchange, but DO preach abstinence only.
